4Great Product, Great Price
By C. Bryan
I have relaxed hair and had read about steamers on some hair care blogs. I had never used or owned a steamer before so I didn't know what to expect. The steamer works perfectly. It has become a part of my weekly hair care regimen. I haven't used my hooded dryer for conditioning and hot oil treatments ever since I got this steamer 3 months ago. My hair is so much healthier. It's not dry all the time like before and I was able to go 10 weeks in between relaxer touch-ups. I have NEVER been able to go more than 6-8 weeks before. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the directions were a little vague. Other than that I have no complaints.

5Disappointing after 2 uses less than 30 days old but outstanding customer service & new machine works great
By calidrm
I purchased this steamer 2/20/12 because this is the only steamer that wasn't a table top steamer that had gotten an average of 4 stars within my price range. I prefer a portable steamer that is adjustable versus a steamer that I have to find the right table and chair for plus adding books for height so that my daughter can use it AND pay 100 bucks for anyway. Well after the 1st couple of uses I thought it was great but I tried to use it today for a 3rd time and it smelled as if the unit was on fire! I unplugged the unit drained the water and saw this black material floating in the water. I drained the machine after the last 2 uses because for me I cannot fill the unit with more than 3/4 cup of water or it will start to drip from the bottom holes of the actual unit attached to the pole and the instructions do not indicate how much water to use so I started with 1/2 c and worked my way up. I submitted a request to the seller TODAY via Amazon for a return of this unit as I think I may have gotten a defective one. Also the unit did not automatically shut off. I will post an update with regard to seller response for return or hopefully replacement of this unit.Update: I rec'd the email reply below from the seller. Are they serious? Whatever happened to offering to send a replacement instead they offer u a discount to keep the defective product??Good morning,Thank you for contacting Best Choice Products. I am very sorry to hear that you are having issues with your hair steamer. Would you be willing to keep this item as is for a 25% discount on your order?Thank you,AudreyBest ChoiceUpdate: I rec'd another email reply from the *seller below.I rec'd the new unit the very next day Tuesday 3/13 and I have used it twice already and I love, love, love my steamer. I have added up to 2 cups of water without any spillage issues, the machine auto shuts off, no burning smells. I am changing my rating to 5 STARS for new machine and EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!*I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your unit. It sounds like you may have received a defective unit. We will be shipping you out a new one on Monday. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may have created. Go ahead and discard of the original we will not be needing it back. Please contact me if you have any additional questions.Sincerely,Megan DuBoisCustomer Service ManagerBest Choice Products(909)948-8400 ext 303

1Great steam but leaked water like a faucet after 1 week
By Allison
I just bought this steamer a week ago.On the positive side, I used it twice and the steam was great. Really great! Easily covered the entire head and gave me a thorough deep steam. I loved it! I like the adjustable height, rolling wheels and adjustable hood. The instructions for putting it together wasn't very good but I managed to put it together nonetheless. Frankly, there's not much instructions for anything at all with this unit.Unfortunately, the bad news is last night I refilled the water and it literally poured right out of the bottom of the water compartment - like a faucet straight into a nice puddle on my carpeted floor.I just called Amazon this morning to initiate a return or a refund. I'm not sure what the process is but if I have to pack up this entire thing and ship it back, THAT will be a ROYAL pain. So I'm waiting to see what's up.I had seen the other reviewer who said it leaked after a few uses but hoped that was more of a 1-instance thing. I don't even think the large box could fit into my car trunk. I'm really dreading the possibility of having to figure out how to return this thing. What a pain!!I don't know that I'd want an exchange given another reviewer said it died after a year. We'll see what happens with the return/exchange process I initiated this morning.UPDATE: OK, if I wasn't so utterly flabbergasted by the company's reply, I'd probably fall out laughing, but this is no laughing matter. Below is the response the company sent me.I replied to let them know that unless they're also sending me a handyman with tools, sending me parts to fix the problem is a pretty ridiculous suggestion on the part of customer service. How on earth would I possibly know if the problem can be fixed with parts? And who exactly do they expect would install those parts? Wow.=====RESPONSE FROM BEST CHOICE PRODUCTS=======Thank you for contacting Best Choice,I'm very sorry that this item is leaking and not working properly, first and foremost, do you think that this could be fixed by sending out parts? Please advise if this would be okay.Thank you,Erika=============================================ANOTHER UPDATE: After a phone call to the company, I received my replacement steamer and thankfully I did not have to send the original one back. Unfortunately, the new one had the same issue - leaked. At that time my husband and I decided to take a really close look at the hair steamer and realized it's truly POOR DESIGN. There's a shallow basin-like cup inside that pools up the water to be steamed. No edges on that little basin thing so if the steamer moves or if the steamer is over-filled, the water simply spills onto the floor.Careful with moving the steamer AFTER it has started to heat up because the water is quite hot at that point. I was moving the steamer closer to my head and the HOT water spilled onto my hand! Yes! Hot water spilled and burned my hand! My husband came running into the room because he heard me scream when it happened. Seriously, I could probably sue somebody at this point, but I'm really not into that kinda drama. It's that burn that reminded me to post an update today. I'm actually sitting here with an ice-pack on my hand where the water spilled because it truly feels like a burn. Good Lord! There's more to the story.... I've been to 2 hair salons and noticed they both had this exact same steamer. So I'm thinking, gosh, it must be a good steamer if 2 different hair salons are using it. At the second hair salon, coincidentally, the hair stylist was commenting that they threw out a few steamers due to leakage then realized that they can control the leakage. My ears perked up and I joined in the conversation. I learned that there's a little black screw-top thing on the side of the hair steamer. After each use, it's best to unscrew that little black cap which then exposes a little drain spigot. You let all of the water drain out before the next use so you don't overfill it. And that's because of the POOR DESIGN. The steamer allows you to overfill it and will just spill the excess water onto the floor. If you drain it after each use, then refill the water, you're less likely to overfill it and have it spill onto the floor (or God forbid, burn you!).Now, WHY this information about the little drain cap is NOT included anywhere in the directions, I have no idea. And WHY the customer service person never mentioned this, and sent me another steamer instead, I have no idea. It was pure coincidence that I discovered this in a conversation at a hair salon. There's more.... if the water DOES run out while you're under it, it starts to smell like burning plastic and you have to hurry up and switch it off. I'm not sure if it's supposed to auto-shut-off, but I didn't wait to find out. Sheeze!Anyways, for obvious reasons, I'm shopping around for another steamer. Not even gonna bother calling the vendor back. Waste of time because it's now past the 60-day refund limit. Just wanted to let everyone know from my experience, this is a dangerous steamer. Buyer Beware.
